Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Pliers for spring-type clamps -T20029-
t  Drip tray -V.A.G 1306-
t  Torque wrench -SAT 8010-
t  Anti-freeze tester

Removing
–  First remove radiator grille and trim. → General body repairs; Rep. Gr.66
–  Remove front bumper cover and bumper carrier: → General body repairs; Rep. Gr.63
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Pull coolant hoses off radiator.
–  Pull connectors off thermo-switch.
–  Remove radiator securing bolts and take out radiator downwards.
Vehicles with air conditioner:
–  Observe additional information and removal work → Anchor.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order, when doing this note the following:
–  Filling with coolant → Chapter
–  Electrical connections and routing: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
Additional information and removal work on vehicles with air conditioner
  Caution
The air conditioner refrigerant circuit must not be opened.
  Note!
To prevent damage to condenser also to the refrigerant pipes/hoses, ensure that the pipes and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.
–  Remove retaining clamp(s) from refrigerant pipes.
–  Unbolt condenser from radiator and secure to lock carrier.
–  Unbolt air conditioner fluid reservoir and allow to hang free.
–  Remove condenser from radiator and pull forward as far as is possible.
–  Pull radiator out carefully, downwards.
