Checking compression pressure → Chapter
  Note!
t  When installing an exchange cylinder head with fitted camshaft, the contact surfaces between bucket tappets and the cam must be oiled before installing the cylinder head cover.
t  The plastic packing pieces for protecting the open valves must not be removed until immediately prior to fitting the cylinder head cover.
t  When the cylinder head is renewed, the entire coolant in the system must also be renewed.
t  Removing and installing intake manifold/pipe → Chapter, Removing and installing parts of the injection system
1 - Toothed belt guard, upper part
2 - Toothed belt
q   Check for wear
q   Do not kink
q   Removing, installing and tensioning → Chapter
3 - Bolt
q   20 Nm
4 - Toothed belt guard, rear
5 - Lifting eye
6 - Cylinder head cover
q   Before fitting, coat transition points for bearing cap/cylinder head and the half-moon shaped cut-out with -D 454 300 A3-
7 - Bolt
q   10 Nm
q   Loosen and tighten bolts one after the other from inside to outside using alternate and diagonal sequence.
8 - Ignition/HT. wiring cover
9 - Ignition/HT. wiring guide
10 - Cylinder head bolt
q   Renew
q   Observe assembly instructions and sequence when loosening and tightening → Chapter
11 - Cylinder head
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Check for distortion → Fig.
q   If renewing, renew entire coolant
12 - Cylinder head gasket
q   Renew
q   Metal gasket
q   If renewing, renew entire coolant
