Engine number
Engine number
The engine number consists of up to nine symbols (alphanumeric). The first part (a maximum of 3 code letters) represents the “engine code” and the second part (six-digit) the “serial number”. If more than 999,999 engines have been produced with the same engine code, the first number is substituted by a letter.

The engine number (“Code letters” and serial number) can be found on the front by the joint between engine/gearbox.
  E00-0081
The “engine code and engine number” are also to be found on a sticker on the notched belt guard or on the cylinder head -arrows-.
  Note
The “engine code” also appears in the vehicle data, which is to be found both in the Customer's Technical Assistance Plan and at the rear of the vehicle, in the spare wheel housing or in the boot compartment.
