Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
  Note
Before carrying out further work, disconnect battery earth strap. To this end, it is necessary to check whether the vehicle has a coded radio. If so, refer to the anti-theft coding.
–  With ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap.
–  Fold rear seat bench forwards.
   
–  Remove the protective element -1- from fuel delivery unit.

–  First check that connector -arrow- is fitted securely by pulling connector without pressing catch. The connector can cause a fault if it has not been fitted correctly.

–  Release electrical connector -1- on the flange by disengaging the plug connector.

–  Disconnect fuel lines -1- and -2- on flange (press release tab).

–  Open the sealing flange using the spanner for union nuts -3217-.

–  Remove seal from opening in fuel tank.
  WARNING
Safety risk from escaping fuel: the fuel delivery unit is still filled.
Use a cloth to catch escaping fuel.
–  Pull fuel extraction unit -1- with fuel gauge sender out through the installation opening of the fuel tank carefully.
  Note
When removing fuel delivery unit, make sure you do not bend float arm of fuel gauge sender -G-.
