Removing
Removing
–  Remove noise insulation → Rep. gr.50
–  Drain engine oil.
  Note
Observe environmental regulations for disposal.
Vehicles 06.2000 ►
–  Pull 3-pin connector off oil level and oil temperature sender -G266-.
   
–  Remove securing bolts -arrows- from bracket on sump for charge air pipe between turbocharger and charge air cooler.
Continuation for all vehicles
–  Loosen sump bolts using T-bar and socket, 10 mm -3185-. (Remove using hexagon key extension, 5 mm -3249-).
–  Remove sump, it may be necessary to release sump by tapping lightly with a rubber head hammer.
–  Remove sealant residue from cylinder block with a flat scraper.
  WARNING
Wear eye protection.

–  Remove sealant residue on sump with a rotating brush, e.g. a hand drill with a plastic brush.
–  Clean sealing surfaces. They must be free of oil and grease.
