Installing > < Renewing valve stem seals

Removing
Removing
(with cylinder head installed)
–  Remove camshaft → Chapter.
–  Remove bucket tappets and lay them down with the contact surface downwards. When doing this, ensure that tappets are not interchanged.
–  Set piston of respective cylinder to top dead centre (TDC).
   
–  Fit valve assembly tool -2036- and adjust mountings to height of studs.
–  Remove valve springs using valve lever -VW 541/1A- and press tool -VW 541/5-.

The valves are supported by the piston crown.

–  Pull off valve stem seals using puller -3047A-.
