Engine control unit fault memory: consulting and erasing

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Central diagnosis -VAS 5051B-, see equivalent → Anchor

Procedure

–	Connect the central diagnosis -VAS 505X-

–	Start engine and run at idling speed.

Only when engine does not start:

–	Switch on ignition.

–	Briefly press the key “Vehicle self diagnosis”.

Indicated in the central diagnosis -VAS 5051B-

–	Select vehicle system “01 - Engine electronics” in menu -1-.

–	Wait until the following is displayed.

Indicated in the central diagnosis -VAS 5051B-

–	Select function “02 - Interrogate fault memory”.

–	If no fault is stored in engine control unit “0 fault(s) detected” is displayed.

–	If faults have been recorded in the engine control unit, this is displayed on the screen.

–	Press the ← key.

–	Select function “05 - Erase fault memory”.

–	Press function “06-End output”.
