1 - 15 Nm
2 - To turbocharger
q   Coolant hose schematic diagram → Chapter.
3 - Coolant circulation pump -V50-
q   Black 2-pin connector.
q   Checking → Chapter.
4 - Thermostat
q   Checking: heat thermostat in water.
q   Opening begins approx. 87 °C
q   Ends at approx. 102 °C.
q   Opening lift min. 7 mm.
5 - O-ring
q   Renew.
6 - Connection
7 - To heat exchanger
q   Coolant hose schematic diagram → Chapter.
8 - To rear heat exchanger
q   Only vehicles with optional equipment.
q   Location: in rear left wheel housing.
9 - Securing clip
q   Check for secure seating.
10 - Coolant temperature sender -G62-
q   Blue, 4-pin
q   With coolant temperature sender -G2-.
q   For engine control unit.
q   If necessary, release pressure in cooling system before removing.
q   Checking → Rep. Gr.01.
11 - Connector
12 - Thermal switch for air conditioning shut-off -F163- and Thermal switch for radiator fan third speed -F165-
q   Brown, 4-pin
q   If necessary, release pressure in cooling system before removing.
q   Vehicles with air conditioner → Rep. Gr.87.
q   Vehicles without air conditioner, blanking plug.
13 - 10 Nm
14 - Air conditioning system coolant temperature sender -G110-
q   2-pin.
q   If necessary, release pressure in cooling system before removing.
q   Vehicles with air conditioner → Rep. Gr.87.
15 - Bracket
16 - To top of radiator
q   Check for secure seating.
q   Coolant hose schematic diagram → Chapter.
17 - Lower coolant hose
q   Check for secure seating.
q   Coolant hose schematic diagram → Chapter.
18 - Oil cooler
q   Dismantling and assembling → Chapter, Disassembling and assembling oil filter bracket: engine code AJH.
19 - From rear heat exchanger
q   Only vehicles with optional equipment.
q   Location: in rear left wheel housing.
20 - 20 Nm
21 - Coolant pipe
q   Coolant hose schematic diagram → Chapter.
22 - Cap
q   Check using cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274- and adapter for cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274/9-.
q   Pressure relief valve must open at between 1.4...1.6 bar.
23 - Seal
q   Observe installation position on cap
q   Renew if damaged.
24 - Expansion tank
q   Test for leaks in cooling system using cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274- and adapter for expansion tank -V.A.G 1274/8-.
q   Observe markings → Chapter Draining and filling coolant
25 - From heat exchanger
q   Coolant hose schematic diagram → Chapter.
26 - Union, 30 Nm
q   For coolant supply pipe.
27 - Coolant supply pipe
q   For turbocharger
q   Coolant hose schematic diagram → Chapter.
28 - Coolant pump
q   Check for ease of movement.
q   If damaged or leaking, renew complete.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
29 - Toothed belt
q   Mark direction of rotation before removing.
q   Check for wear
q   Do not kink
q   Removing, installing and tensioning → Chapter.
