| Note safety precautions before beginning work → Chapter. |

| First check whether a coded radio is fitted. If so, obtain anti-theft coding. |

| With the ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap. |

| Remove cover from fuel delivery unit. |
–
| Pull 4-pin connector and supply and return lines off flange. |
WARNING Fuel supply lines are under pressure! Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection. |

Note Press buttons on hose couplings to do this. |

| Unscrew union nut with union nut tool -3217-. |
Vehicles with engine code AJH |

| Pull flange and seal out of opening in fuel tank. |
–
| Release and remove delivery unit from bayonet connection by turning to the left. |

| Pull fuel delivery unit and seal out of opening in fuel tank. |
Continuation for all vehicles |
Note If delivery unit is to be renewed, drain old delivery unit before disposal. |

| Installation of fuel delivery unit is carried out in reverse order. |

| When inserting fuel delivery unit, ensure that fuel gauge sender is not bent. |

| Insert seal for flange or fuel delivery unit dry into opening of fuel tank. |
t
| Moisten seal with fuel only when installing flange or fuel delivery unit. |
t
| Ensure fuel hoses are tight. |
t
| After installing fuel delivery unit, check that supply, return and breather lines are still clipped onto fuel tank. |
