The engine identification code consists of up to nine symbols (alphanumeric). The first part (three distinct letters maximum) represents the “engine identification letters”, the second part (six numbers) represents the “correlative number”. If more than 999,999 engines with the same engine identification letters are produced, the first of the six numbers is replaced by a letter.
   
The distinct letters and the correlative number of the engine are engraved on the cylinder block between the injection pump and the vacuum pump.
In addition, an adhesive label with the identification letters and the correlative number in the upper notched belt protection.
The “engine identification letters” appear in the rear of the vehicle described in the client's Technical Assistance Plan and also in the rear of the vehicle, in the spare wheel compartment or the floor of the boot.
