The engine number consists of up to nine symbols (alphanumerical). The first part (maximum of three code letters) represents the “engine code letters”, the second (six digits) the “correlative number”. If more than 999 999 engines have been produced with the same code letters, the first digit is replaced with a letter. |
In addition there is a sticker with “the engine code letters” and “the correlative number” on the toothed belt shield. |
The engine code letters are also found on the vehicle data plate. |
