  Note!
t  After carrying out fitting work on the exhaust system, carefully ensure that there are no stresses and that there is sufficient separation from the bodywork. If necessary, release the double clamp(s) and align the silencer and the exhaust pipe so that there is sufficient distance between them and the bodywork and that the supports are uniformly employed.
t  Renew the self-locking nuts.
   
Exhaust manifold, front exhaust pipe with catalyst and accessory parts
1 - Gasket
q   Renew
2 - Gasket
q   Renew
q   Fitting position: notch facing down
3 - 25 Nm
4 - Exhaust manifold
q   For disassembly, remove the exhaust manifold: → Chapter
5 - 20 Nm
6 - Hot air pick up plate
7 - Guide tube
q   For the oil dipstick tube
8 - Front exhaust pipe with catalyst
9 - Toward the presilencer
10 - Mark
q   Three times around the perimeter
11 - Lambda probe, 50 Nm
q   Only grease the threads with -G5-. -G5- must not reach the grooves in the probe
q   Remove and install with -U-40080-
q   Test: → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051
q   Test Lambda regulation: → Chapter
q   Test the Lambda probe's heating: → Chapter
12 - 25 Nm

   
Silencer with fasteners
1 - Front exhaust pipe with catalyst
2 - Mark
q   Three times around the perimeter
3 - Double clamp
4 - Dimension -a- = approx. 5 mm
5 - Crushed bolt
6 - 23 Nm
7 - Presilencer → Note
q   Insert the double clamp up to the mark
8 - Fastening element
q   Renew if deteriorated
9 - Union brace
10 - 15 Nm
11 - Suspension element
q   Renew if deteriorated
12 - 22 Nm + 1/4 turn (90°)
13 - Rear silencer → Note
14 - Mark
q   Visible from below
q   For double repair clamp → Item
15 - Cutting point
q   For repairs → Note
q   With three marks around the perimeter of the joining tube
16 - Double repair clamp
q   It should be inserted up to the marks → Item

1)  In the stock vehicle, the presilencer and the rear silencer are made up of a single part. For repair, the presilencer and silencer are supplied separately with a double clamp, → Item. Cut the joining tube at the cutting point → Item with -U-40075-.
