Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 505X-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Fuel drainage equipment adaptor -VAS 5190 /3 -, see equivalent → Anchor
  WARNING
Fuel supply line is pressurised. Wear safety goggles and appropriate clothing to avoid injury and contact with skin. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then eliminate the pressure by carefully separating the pipe.
   
–  Pull off supply line -arrow- and catch escaping fuel with a cloth.

Press in safety ring to release fuel lines.
–  Connect fuel extractor -VAS 5190- with adapter for fuel extractor -VAS 5190 /3 - to fuel supply line.

–  Separate connector -A- to supplementary fuel pump -V393- (inline electronic fuel pump).
–  Connect the vehicle diagnosis tester.
–  Switch on ignition.
–  Remove filler cap from fuel tank filler neck.
–  Connect the Vehicle diagnostics system and perform the guided function „electric fuel pump: empty“.
  Note
The fuel pumps are now activated. The vehicle diagnosis tester shows the progress of the drainage.
–  Open the shut-off cock of the fuel drainage equipment -VAS 5190- until the fuel tank is empty.
