t  There is a sticker on the timing chain cover indicating the „Engine code“ and „Serial number“-arrow-.
t  Starting with the letter „C“, the engine codes consist of 4 letters.
t  The first 3 characters of the engine code stand for the engine capacity and the mechanical construction and design. These, including the serial number, are engraved on the cylinder block.
t  The 4th character indicates the power output and torque of the engine, and is determined by the engine control unit.

t  Vehicles for some countries do not have a model plate. Assembly points for the vehicle dataplate and model plate → Booklet101
t  If the sticker is missing, use a mirror and a torch to read off the „Engine code“ and the „Serial number“:
