Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Vacuum pump -VAS 6213-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Adapter -VAG 1318/17-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Adapter -VAG 1318/20-, see equivalent → Anchor
Test prerequisite:
l  Ignition must be switched off.
Checking process:
  W00-10560
–  Remove the ventilation pipe -1-. To do so, press the release tabs.
  N10-10185
–  The breather hose -2- which leads to the activated carbon filter must be connected to the vacuum pump -VAS 6213--1- as shown in the figure.
  N20-10238
–  Move the ring -1- of the vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to position -A- for „vacuum“.
–  Operate the vacuum pump -VAS 6213- a few times. Vacuum must not build up.
If a vacuum builds up:
–  Check if the breather hole of the activated carbon filter → Item is dirty, and clean if necessary.
If a vacuum does not build up:
  N24-10282
–  Temporarily seal breather opening -3- and operate vacuum pump again several times. A vacuum must build up.
If a vacuum does not build up:
–  Renew active carbon filter.
