Piston for rear brake caliper: removing and installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Plastic wedge -U-30800-
  W00-2169
t  Piston retraction tool -T20055-
t  G 052 150 A2 Assembly paste
t  filling/bleeding equipment bleeding bottle -SAT 1150-
Removing
  W00-2336
–  Remove the piston from the caliper by turning it left, with the retraction device -T20055- knob of the brake caliper.
  Note!
t  Insert the -T20055- piston retraction device in such a way that the collar -arrow- is in front of the piston.
t  On fitting the pressure tool to the retraction device, the tabs must face outwards.
  E45-0011
–  Extract the gasket ring with the -U-30800- installation wedge.
  Note!
Make sure the cylinder surface does not get damaged during disassembly.
Installation
–  Only clean the piston and seal surfaces with alcohol and then dry.
–  Before fitting the piston and seal, apply a thin coating of G 052 150 A2 assembly paste.
–  Fit seal to brake caliper.
  E47-0001
–  Fit the outside sealing protective cover with sealing lip over the piston.
  N47-0079
–  Insert the inside sealing lip into the groove of the cylinder using wedge -U-30800-.
  Note!
During this operation, the piston has to be supported in front of the brake caliper housing.
  E47-0002
–  Screw in the piston by turning the -T20055- retraction device knob to the right.
  Note!
t  Insert the -T20055- piston retraction device so that the collar -arrow- rests on the brake caliper.
t  On fitting the pressure tool to the retraction device, the tabs must face outwards.
t  If the position of the piston is changed by using the piston retraction device or operating the brake pedal, the automatic readjustment of the caliper will be destroyed.
–  Fit the brake pads.
Bleed the brake caliper
  E45-0010
–  Open the bleeding valve -arrow A- and fill the bleeding bottle of the -SAT 1150- filling/bleeding device with brake fluid until it comes out of the threaded hole (closing of the brake hose) free from air bubbles -arrow A-. Close the vent valve.
  Note!
For bleeding prior to assembly locate the caliper as shown in the illustration.
