Installation position of the plate spring and thrust ring on the exterior joint
1 - Plate spring, largest Ø side (concave side) rests on the retaining ring.
2 - Retaining ring, largest Ø (concave side) rests on the plates spring -1-.

Inner constant velocity joint: insertion
–  Use the KIT -U-40450A-.
–  Insert the constant velocity joint up to the limit.
–  Insert the securing ring with pliers -A-81124-.
  Note
The bevel of the interior diameter of the ball hub (cogged) should point to the support collar of the complete half shaft.

Ventilation for constant velocity joint dustguard
The dust guard for the constant velocity joint usually contracts when attached to the joint. A vacuum is produced in the dust guard so that while the vehicle is moving, an inward fold is produced -arrow-. Therefore, following fitting, the dust guard must be ventilated through the small hole to establish the pressure compensation.

Tense the clamp
–  Put tension on the clamps of the interior and exterior joints.
–  Attach the pliers -T20072- as shown in the figure Ensure that the edges of the tool fit into the corners -arrows B- of the clamp.
–  Tense the clamp to a torque of 20 Nm by turning the spindle -A- using the torque wrench (keep the pliers straight for this operation).
  Note
t  Due to the hardness of the material (compared to the rubber) of the dust guard blower and the stainless steel clamp needed, the clamp can only be tensed using the pliers -T20072-.
t  Use a torque wrench with a range between 5 and 50 Nm (for example -SAT 8010-).
t  Ensure that the screw thread of the clamp turns easily; if necessary use grease -MoS2-.
t  If it moves with difficulty, because of dirt in the thread, for example, the tensioning force needed for the clamp cannot be reached.
