Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Engine and gearbox lifter -V.A.G 1383 A-, see equivalency → Anchor
  W00-0120
t  Ball joint separator -T40010 -, see equivalency → Anchor
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-, see equivalent → Anchor.
Removal:
–  Remove wheel.
–  Secure brake disc with wheel bolt.
–  Remove the brake caliper and attach it to the bodywork such that neither the hose nor the brake line are loaded → Brake liner; Rep. gr. 46, if the clamp extractor -T40010- cannot be set on.
–  Thread off the nut of the steering link until the threads of the joint close smoothly. If necessary, counter-hold the joint with a 4-mm internal socket (Allen) key.

–  Pull out the joint of the steering link with the clamp extractor - T40010 - from its taper seat.

t  Do not damage the joint protection sleeve!
t  Make sure the two lever arms of the puller are parallel when maximum force is exerted.
–  Position engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- with suitable wooden block under subframe and press subframe upwards lightly.
–  Remove the cross-member of the gearbox → Chapter.
–  Lower subframe slightly with engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A-.
Take care not to damage the underseal or the surfaces of the brake pipes.

–  Loosen and remove screw joint -1-.
–  Remove the bottom steering link.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:

Bonded rubber bushes can only be turned to a limited extent. The mountings of the suspension links must therefore only be tightened when the suspension is in the unladen position → Chapter.

–  Mount the steering link and tighten the screw joint -1-.
–  Tighten nut of the joint → Item of the track control link to the specified tightening torque.

–  Tighten the screw joint -1- with the specified tightening torque. → Item
–  Fit the cross-member of the gearbox → Chapter.
–  Assemble the brake disk → Brake system; Rep. gr.46.
–  Mount the wheels and the tighten the wheel bolts → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr.44
