Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Support equipment -T10038-
t  Measuring tool -T20095-
t  Hydraulic jack adapter -T20209-
t  Hydraulic jack -V.A.G 1383 A-, see equivalent → Anchor
  Note
t  For those vehicles fitted with dual-function xenon headlights, before beginning removal of elements affecting the rear left hand side suspension, release the sensor connector for the vehicle level sender from the swinging arm, located on the front left hand side suspension → Electric system; Rep. gr. 94.
t  Headlight basic setting: use the Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 505X- → Electrical system; Rep. gr. 94 .
t  To verify the height off the ground, „the vehicle must be empty“, the fuel tank must be filled to at least 3/4 of its total capacity, the spare wheel must be in place along with the vehicle tools and jack.
t  With the clearance off the ground at the level -a-, tolerances remain well under the maximum torsion torque of the bonded rubber bush, thus preserving their working life.
t  The line 0 is parallel to the floor. Set the vehicle on a flat area. Dimension -0- → Fig. must be the same height on both sides, so that the clearance and the steering geometry can be checked.
t  The ground clearance must be checked before beginning the removal of the strut or of elements connected to the suspension. It is necessary to differentiate between new and already used wheel suspension, dimension-a-.
t  New suspension → Chapter
t  Used wheel suspension → Chapter

Unloaded vehicle height off the ground for new suspension
For Altea XL Freetrack 2008►
  E40-10024
Running gear → RemarkRide height -a- in mm
Running gear 4WD → Remark400.5 mm

1)  4WD (Four-wheel drive)
2)  The running gear fitted to the vehicle is specified in the vehicle data sheet. The running gear is identified by the PR number. The PR number assigned to the running gear is found here → Chapter.

Measurement of the ground clearance with used suspension
Used suspension: When any component that could affect suspension is going to be replaced, before raising the vehicle and starting work, measure the elevation of-a-, and write down the measured value because you will need it to keep the same height you had after replacing the damaged component.
  E42-10025
–  Fit themeasuring tool -T20095-on the wheel and measure it. There are different types of holes-A....c- for the different types of rims.
Measurement and modification of free height on a lift, off-road suspension
  WARNING
The vehicle must be secured to the lifting platform, else the it could slip.
  E44-0007
–  Secure the vehicle with support tool -T10038 - on both sides of the lifting platform.
  N42-10114
–  When the vehicle is positioned on the lifting platform, the ground clearance can be added together by lifting the respective suspension using the engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- and the Hydraulic jack adapter -T20209- until a defined dimension. Use the micrometer dial -T20095 - for the measurement.
  WARNING
t  Do not raise or lower vehicle while engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- is positioned under the vehicle.
t  Do not leave engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- under vehicle for longer than necessary.
–  Tighten the corresponding nuts and bolts to their specified torque.
–  Lower wheel bearing housing.
–  Pull engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- out from under vehicle.
