Steering lock with ignition starter switch: Removing and installing
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor.
Removal:
–  Remove steering column → Chapter.

–  Chisel off break-away bolt
  Note
t  Steering column must be clamped in a vice when chiselling out shear bolts.
t  If the steering column is installed , the steering column mounting bracket gets damaged when executing this action.
–  Remove steering lock from ignition starter switch.
Installation
–  Position steering lock with ignition/starter switch (without lock cylinder) on steering column and screw in shear bolts.
–  Tighten shear bolt to 20 Nm.
When tightening the bolt, the head of the bolt must tear off with this tightening torque.
The remaining installation steps are carried out in the reverse sequence.
–  Install steering column → Chapter.
