Tyre pressure monitoring display (RKA and RKA+ Function)
Tyre pressure monitoring display (RKA and RKA+ Function)
General notes:
Please observe the instructions in the → Owner's Manual.
The tyre pressure monitor display system is part of the software in the ABS control unit -J104 -. It detects the gradual reduction of the tyre pressure of a wheel. The irregularity linked with the tyre pressure monitoring display is registered in the memory of the ABS control unit -J104 -. The tyre pressure monitoring display compares the speed and therefore the rolling surface perimeter of each individual wheel using the ABS sensors.
After completing any of the following work and modifications, a basic adjustment must be carried out → Anchor:
t  Changing the tyre pressure
t  Changing one or more wheels
t  Swapping the wheels, e.g the front ones with the back ones

If a change in the rolling surface perimeter is detected on a wheel, the warning lamp for the tyre pressure monitoring display -K220--arrow-located in the instrument panel lights up to inform the driver. A tyre's rolling circumference may change as a result of:
t  tyre pressure is too low
t  Structural tyre damage.
t  One-sided loading of vehicle
t  Increased load on one axle, e.g. due to towing a trailer
t  Use of snow chains.
t  Temporary spare wheel installed
t  Wheel renewal.
Fault in the anti-lock brake system
  E44-10140
When the warning lamp for ESP and ASR -K155- or the warning lamp for the traction control system -K86- indicates a fault in the ABS, the warning lamp for the tyre pressure monitoring display -K220--arrow- is also activated. No fault will be registered in the tyre pressure monitoring system.
This warning lamp cannot be deactivated with the button for the tyre pressure monitoring display - E492 -, an entry must be made in the error memory instead as follows:
–  Connect the Vehicle diagnosis testing and information system -VAS 505X- and select the „Guided fault finding“ → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
Running gear
03.Brake system
01 - Self-diagnosis systems Mark 60/Mark 70
ABS/EDS/ASR/ESP antilock braking system Mark 60 or ABS/EDS antilock braking system Mark 70 (depending on the version)
Uses
Tyre pressure monitoring display / indicates tyre pressure
Please follow the instructions for carrying out the basic settings that appear on the screen.
Perform basic setting .
  E44-10140
Every time the wheels are modified, press the SET-arrow- button, with the ignition on and the vehicle parked, until an audible signal is heard. The audible signal confirms basic setting.
Adapting tyre size
–  Connect the Vehicle diagnosis testing and information system -VAS 505X- and select the „Guided fault finding“ → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
