Battery support: Removing and installing (vehicles from 11.05) Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Torque wrenches -SAT 8010- Removing:

–  Loosen the locking tabs -arrows- and remove the cover -1-. Only on vehicles with automatic gearbox

–  Open the cable clips -1- and remove cable. –  Unplug the locking tab -2- on the right hand side of the gearbox control unit. Do not pull on the locking tab.

–  Unplug the locking tab -1- on the left hand side of the gearbox control unit in the same way. –  Remove the gearbox control unit -2- upwards out of its mount considering the length of the cable connected in the process and place the control unit with cables connected to the side. All vehicles (continued):

–  Loosen the locking tab -arrow- and open the cover -1-.

–  Unscrew the securing nuts -1- and remove the positive cable -2-. –  Loosen the securing nut -3- and pull the positive terminal -4- upwards.

–  Loosen the securing nut -2- and pull the negative terminal -1- upwards.

–  Release the rear locking tab-1- from the battery cover in the direction of the -arrow-.

–  Release both rear locking tabs -1- in the direction of the -arrows-and remove the battery cover upwards. –  Unscrew the fastening bolt -2- and remove the battery support. –  Remove the battery from the vehicle.

–  Remove the cable tie -1- on the rear side of the battery support.

–  Unscrew the both securing nuts -1- and remove the securing bolt -2-. –  Remove the rubber drain hose from the underside of the battery support. –  Remove the battery support from the vehicle. Installing: Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following: –  Tighten screw connections to the specified tightening torque → Chapter. –  After fitting, check if battery is fitted securely. –  Connect battery → Chapter.
