Connecting vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A-

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A-

t	Diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/6A- (5 m)

t	Diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/5A- (3 m)

Note!

Only these cables are to be used for diagnosis, as they are the only ones fitted with CAN wiring and therefore allowing CAN diagnosis and/or CAN communication.

Connecting vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A-:

–	Apply handbrake.

–	Vehicles with an automatic gearbox, move selector lever to position “P” or “N”.

–	Vehicles with manual gearbox, move gearstick to neutral position.

Vehicles ► 05.00:

The diagnostic socket is located below the ashtray.

–	Open ashtray -3-.

–	Press both sides of flap -1- slightly in direction of -arrow A-.

The ashtray insert -2- jumps forward slightly.

–	Remove ashtray insert -2- out from ashtray -3-.

–	Release the ashtray and pull the opened ashtray out of the centre console.

–	With ignition switched off, connect vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- to diagnostic interface -arrow B- in vehicle using diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/6A-.

Vehicles 06.00 ►:

The diagnostic socket is located under the cover in left footwell.

–	With ignition switched off, connect vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- using diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/6A- to diagnostic interface -arrow- in vehicle.

Continuation for all vehicles:

–	Switch on ignition.

–	Switch off all electrical consumers.
