Removing
–  Remove safety washer -1- that secures the connector cable to the selector rod.
   
–  Remove the connector cable from the pivot.

-Item 2- can be disregarded.
  Note
There are two types of transfer levers: plastic and metal.
Metal idler rod
–  Remove the retunr lever → Chapter
Plastic idler rod:
–  Remove the retunr lever → Chapter
Continuation for all versions

–  Unbolt the cable support from gearbox -arrows-.
For increased clarity, the selection rod and relay lever appear removed in the drawing as do the cable securing elements.
–  Remove the gear lever cover from the centre console → Chapter.
–  Separate the gear lever cover from the gear lever knob → Chapter.
  N34-1404
–  Extract the clip -arrow- and remove the lever knob along with the cover.

–  Unscrew the nuts -arrows- that secure the front of the casing -arrows-.
–  Separate the floor protection lining, lower part.
–  Remove cross member -B- located below the exhaust gas system.
–  Separate the exhaust gas system by the double clamp behind the front section of the exhaust tube → Rep. Gr.26.
–  Remove the thermal protection.
–  Release the gear lever casing from the bodywork.
–  Turn protective housing on shift lever downward and remove together with lines. When doing this, do not damage mechanical parts and body.
