Gear prongs: Repairing Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter. Special tools and workshop equipment required

Remove the ball bearing   Note When removing and fitting the bearings, take special care not to bend the forks.

Insert the ball bearings to the limit   Note When removing and fitting the bearings, take special care not to bend the forks.

Remove the securing ring –  Secure fork in workshop vice with jaws -B-. –  Separate the washer -A- by levering in -direction of arrow-.

Fit the securing ring –  Press the spring washer in the groove of the gear change with a handled socket spanner. A - Socket spanner with handle, size 10 B - Protection jaws

Identification of the gear-change pins Dimension -a- 1 -  Pin for 1st and 2nd gears and short pin for the 3rd and 4th gear = 10.2 mm. 2 -  Large pin for 3rd and 4th gear = 10.2 mm 3 -  Pin for 5th gear = 6.0 mm
