  Note

  Note
All cable clamps that become loose or cut when removing must be re-installed in the same place when installing.
–  Put the gear selector lever into position „P“.
–  Remove engine cover → Booklet101.
–  Remove the air filter housing, the air hose and the air conduit hoses → Rep. gr.24 and → Rep. gr.23
  WARNING
Take all the necessary precautionary measures when disconnecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr. 27.
   
–  Release the selector lever cable -1- from the selection shaft rod -3-, use, e.g. a 10 mm spanner -2-.
–  Remove the control cable from the counter support by pressing the tabs -arrows-.
–  Position the selector lever cable so that the end may be freely moved.
t  Do not bend or twist the selector lever cable.
–  Move the selector lever from position „P“ to position „S“ several times.
–  Check the cable protection sheath located on the forward part of the selector lever cable for damage and change the cable if necessary.
–  Put the gear selector lever into position „P“.
l  The gear change operation and the movement of the cable should be smooth, if necessary, replace the cable ( → Chapter) or repair the gear selection mechanism.
–  Carefully insert the selector lever cable in the selection shaft rod and fit it on the gearbox counter support.

Set
Adjust the selector lever cable whenever:
t  gearbox is removed,
t  removing and fitting the engine and/or gearbox,
t  the cable or the gearbox operation mechanism is removed and fitted
t  the position of the engine and the gearbox is modified, for example when mounted without tensions.
–  Shift selector lever into position „P“.
–  Remove the bolt -2- located on the front selector cable guard -1-.
–  With the gear selection lever in the position „P“, move it forwards and backwards by pressing briefly but without leaving the position „P“.
–  Place the selection shaft rod -3- in the gearbox into position „P“, that is, press on the selection shaft rod as far as possible backwards (towards the rear of the vehicle).
  Note
The insertion lever should engage in the park locking gear, the two front wheel are locked (they cannot be turned together in one direction).
–  Tighten the bolt -2- to 13 Nm.
–  Check selector mechanism → Chapter.
