| If the oil sump has been removed or if there is no ATF, the vehicle must not be started or towed. |

| If the automatic gearbox is replaced, the ATF level must be checked and must be topped up if necessary → Chapter . Filling amounts and oil type specifications → Chapter. |

| If the gearbox is removed, the torque converter must be secured so that it does not fall. |

| Thoroughly clean unions and adjacent areas before removing. |

| Before fitting the gearbox, the installation measurements for the torque converter must be checked → Chapter. |

| When fitting the gearbox, ensure that the adjustment sleeves between the engine and the gearbox are correctly seated. |

| Place the parts which are removed on a clean surface and cover to prevent dirt entering. Use plastic or paper sheets. Do not use fluffy cloths! |

| If repair work is not immediately finished, all uncovered components must be covered and stored with the utmost care. |

| Only fit clean parts: only remove replacement parts from packaging immediately prior to installation. |
