Gear selection mechanism: removing and fitting

Removing
–  Remove air cleaner housing → Rep. Gr.23.
   
–  Remove the safety washer -2- that secures the connector cable to selector rod -1-.
–  Detach securing clip -4- for gate selector cable from relay lever -3-.
–  Pull the gear selector cable and gate selector cable from the pins -arrows-.

–  Detach the cable support bracket -A- from gearbox -arrows-.
–  Extract the cables from the support on the side of the gearbox.
–  Remove shift knob together with cover → Chapter.

–  Extract the nuts that support the protective housing -arrows-.
–  Separate the floor protection lining, lower part.

–  Remove the brackets -1- . Tightening torques: 25 Nm.
–  Loosen exhaust system from double clamp -2-.
–  Loosen the exhaust tube from the front part -arrows- of the subframe.
–  Remove heat insulation.-3-
–  Release the gear lever casing from the body structure.
–  Remove the protective housing of the gear-shift and rotate together with the lines. When doing this, do not damage mechanical parts and body.
Installing
Install in reverse order to dismantling, noting the following.
  E34-0306
–  Apply a small amount of polycarbamide grease in the securing element casting of the selection control cable -A- and selector cable -B-.
Tightening torque for the support bracket of the selector lever cable → Chapter.
Tightening torque of the protective housing of the control cable → Chapter.
–  Adjust selector mechanism → Chapter.
–  Install exhaust system and align free from tension → Rep. Gr.26.
–  Fit the air filter → Rep. Gr.23.
