There are various torque converters. They are identified by code letters -arrow-.
Allocation of torque converter to gearbox → Chapter
In vehicles with 6-cylinder engines and with some other gearboxes, the converter must be removed so the code letters can be read.
The previous torque converter is only allowed to be installed in gearboxes with plain bearing in the turbine shaft. The differentiating feature is a B, C, R, T or V as the fourth letter.
Example -arrow- is a “C”.
The new torque converter is only allowed to be installed in gearboxes without plain bearing in the turbine shaft. The differentiating feature is a D, H or J as the fourth letter.
Example -arrow- is a “D”.
If a new torque converter with integrated needle bearing is installed in a gearbox with a plain bearing in the turbine shaft, remove the plain bearing.
