   Start

–  Move selector lever to “P”.
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Withdraw ignition key.
  Faulty selector mechanism or steering lock
–  Renew defective parts.

 Can selector lever be shifted out of “P” with button pressed?→yes→Is locking cable incorrectly adjusted?→yes→
–  Check setting → Chapter before 06.01, → Chapter after 07.01

   Function OK        ↑           
     ↓          ↑           
 
–  Depress brake pedal.
–  Insert the ignition key and switch on the ignition
–  Move selector lever to “P”.
 ↑           
     ↓          ↑           
 Can selector lever be shifted out of “P” with button pressed?→→no→↑           
     ↓          ↑           
     yes          ↑           
     ↓          ↑           
 
–  It must be possible to move selector lever into “R, N, D, 4, 3, or 2”
     ↑

 Can ignition key be withdrawn?→→yes→→↑←←←← no     
     ↓               ↑    
     no→→
–  Depress brake pedal.
–  Move selector lever to “P”.
→The ignition key can be removed and the button on the selector lever is blocked in “P”

                      ↓     
                  Ignition key withdrawal lock OK.
