Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Brake filling and bleeding equipment -VAS 5234- or brake filling and bleeding equipment -V.A.G 1869-, see equivalent → Anchor
  W00-1101
t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor
Brake fluid specification → Brake system; Rep. gr.47 .
Operation process
  Note
t  Open the bleeder valve before switching on the bleeding appliance.
t  When performing the following steps, make sure that no brake fluid escapes onto the gearbox.
t  The clutch system must be bled after performing work on the hydraulic clutch mechanism.
t  Before bleeding the clutch system, pull out clutch pedal and top up brake fluid to „Max“ marking on brake fluid reservoir.
t  The clutch system should be bled at the same intervals as the brake system → Booklet301.
–  Connect brake filling and bleeding unit -V.A.G 1869- or -VAS 5234-, however, do not yet switch on.
–  Remove soundproofing below gearbox if installed.

–  If fitted, remove heat shield -arrows- for drive shafts (left-side).

–  Connect bleeder hose -A- to clutch slave cylinder -arrow- and open bleeder valve.
–  Connect bleeder hose with pressure hose to catch bottle
–  Now switch on brake filling and bleeding unit and allow approx. 100 cm3 of brake fluid to run out. brake filling
l  Working pressure: 2.5 bar
  Note
When bleeding, ensure that the bleeder hose is connected safely.
–  Tighten the breather valve to 4.5 Nm
–  After finishing air bleeding, the clutch pedal must be activated several times.
–  Repeat bleeding procedure if necessary.
–  If fitted, screw heat shield for drive shaft (left-side) onto gearbox.
