Removing and installing self-adjusting clutch (Sachs version) Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Hose clamp -3067-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Aligning punch -3176-, see equivalent → Anchor t  Grease for clutch plate splines -G 000 100-

–  Attach counter-hold tool -3067- or counter-hold tool - 10 - 201- before loosening bolts.

To prevent the pressure plate from becoming distorted during removal (causes clutch grab when driving off), always adhere to the following procedure when unbolting the pressure plate: –  Loosen all six bolts consecutively in clockwise direction and in steps of 90° ( 1 4 turn) until the pressure plate is free. l  Stop -2- (position sensor) with pin -1- should come free when the bolts are slackened. Installation l  Clutch plate installation position: Dampers (coil springs) or „gearbox end“ label must face pressure plate or gearbox.

–  To remove, reverse position of counter-hold tool -3067- or -10 - 201-. –  Use centring mandrel -3176- to centralise clutch plate.

To prevent the pressure plate from becoming distorted during installation (causes clutch grab when driving off), always adhere to the following procedure when installing the pressure plate: –  Position the pressure plate on dowel pins. –  Make sure that the stop mechanism (position sensor) -arrow- is free to move. –  Screw in all 6 bolts evenly by hand until bolt heads make contact with pressure plate. –  Tighten all six bolts consecutively in clockwise direction and in steps of 90° ( 1 4 turn) until the housing makes contact with flywheel. –  The stop pin -arrow- should then lift away from the pressure plate. –  Tighten the six bolts clockwise to 22 Nm in sequence clockwise
