For setting the gearbox correctly, the following requirements must be met in all cases:

Moving parts of operating elements and elements transferring force must be in proper condition.
t
Gearbox operation is smooth without stiffness.
t
Gearbox, clutch and clutch mechanism must also be in proper condition.
l
The gearbox must be in a neutral position.

Remove air filter housing if angled rod -A- and securing mechanism for gear selector cable and gate selector cable are not accessible. → Rep. gr.23.

Pull locking mechanisms on gate selector cable and gear selector cable end-pieces forward to stop -direction of arrow 1- and then turn to left to lock -direction of arrow 2-.
Secure the selector shaft lever as follows:

Pull selector shaft up -direction of arrow 1-.

While pulling up selector shaft, press angled rod -A- in -direction of arrow 2- and at the same time press it upwards in -direction of arrow 3- until it engages in selector shaft.

Remove gaiter with gear knob and, if present, noise insulation → Chapter.
Now secure gear lever as follows:

Place the gearshift lever in neutral position.
–
Insert the retention tool -T10027A- in the hole -A- through the hole -A-.

Now turn locking mechanisms on gear selector cable and gate selector cable end pieces clockwise to stop -direction of arrow 1-.
The spring presses the locking mechanism into original position -direction of arrow 2-.

Now move angled rod -A- back to original position -direction of arrow 1- and -direction of arrow 2-.
Note
Angled rod -A- must be pressed out of selector lever housing to stop, -direction of arrow 1- and must point forwards, -direction of arrow 2-.

Pull the locking pin -T10027A- out of the boreholes -A- and -B-.

Install gaiter with selector knob and, if present, noise insulation → Chapter.

Ensure that the selector shaft can move freely.
–
Install the complete air filter housing, if previously removed → Rep. gr.23.
