1 - Control unit for automatic gearbox -J217-
q   Location → Fig.
q   Removing and installing → Fig.
q   The control unit is checked using the self-diagnosis → VAS 5051, Vehicle self-diagnosis
2 - Engine control unit -J537-
q   Check → VAS 5051, Vehicle self-diagnosis
q   Replace → Rep. Gr.24
q   Location: fastened to transversal wall in engine compartment
3 - Acceleration pedal position sender -G79- and -G185-
q   Location: on the accelerator pedal
q   Sends the Kick-down signal and the accelerator position
q   Removal → Rep. Gr.20
q   This may be checked using the measured values block → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis
4 - Throttle valve module -J338-
q   Location: in the throttle valve
q   Removing and fitting → Rep. Gr.24
q   Electrical test → Rep. Gr.24
q   This may be checked using the measured values block → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis
q   The signal is transmitted to the gearbox control unit, through the engine control unit and the on-board network control unit -J519-.
q   If the self-diagnosis reveals a fault in the throttle valve control unit, also conduct a self-diagnosis of the engine control unit
5 - Selector lever locking solenoid -N110-
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   This may be checked using the measured values block and in the electrical test → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis
6 - Gearbox
q   Gearbox electrical/electronic components → Anchor
7 - Brake pedal switch -F47- and brake light switch -F-
q   Location: in the brake pedal
q   Removal. mounting and adjusting → Brake system; Rep. Gr.45
q   This may be checked using the measured values block and in the electrical test → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis
8 - Starter blocking relay -J207-
q   Location: on the relay holder plate → Folder of circuit diagrams. Electrical fault finding and fitting locations.
q   The relay is coded with the number 53
9 - Reverse gear light relay -J219-
q   Location: integrated in the on-board network control unit
10 - Self-diagnostics switch
q   Location: behind stowage compartment on driver's side
11 - Selector lever range indicator -Y5-
q   Location → Fig.
q   Removal and fitting → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.90
q   Fault display through the indicator -Y5- → Fig.

   
Selector lever range indicator -Y5-
The indicator is located on the instrument panel.
If the emergency programme is activated and the control unit does not operate, all the segments of the range indicator selected will light up on the instrument panel.
If the emergency programme is activated, but the gearbox control unit does not operate, none of the selector lever positions will light up.
The indicator is controlled by the data bus diagnostics interface.

Wiring harness for solenoid valves and gearbox oil temperature sender (ATF) -G93-
Location: the wiring harness is located in the oil sump beneath the slide box.
Wiring harness Removing and fitting
The wiring harness can be replaced with the gearbox installed, without removing the slide box.
–  Drain the gearbox oil (ATF): with the filler tube → Chapter, without the filler tube → Chapter
–  Remove sump → Chapter.
–  Disconnect the wiring harness connector. → Item
–  Separate the temperature sender -G93- from its support -1-.
–  Unlock the terminal connector -2- from the solenoid -N93-.
–  Unlock the connector of the solenoid valves -3-
–  Remove the cables from the support -4-.
–  Unblock the terminal connector -arrows- and remove it from the gearbox casing.
Install in reverse order.
The cable colours correspond to the colours on the corresponding solenoid valves.
–  Fit the oil sump → Chapter.
–  Replace the ATF oil.

Gearbox rev speed sender -G38- and speedometer sender-G68-
Location: the senders are located in the upper part of the gearbox.
A -G38-
B -G68-
Senders: removing and fitting
–  Separate the sender connector.
–  Remove the bolt and the sender.
Install in reverse order.
–  Renew O-ring.
–  Tighten to the torque of 6 Nm.

Multi-function switch -F125-: adjustment
Prerequisites
l  Adjusting selector lever cable → Chapter
l  Selector lever in “N”
l  Bolts -arrows- loosened
–  Pass a 4 mm drill -A- through the selector lever in the adjustment opening of the multifunction switch.
–  In this position, tighten the multifunction switch bolts-arrows- to a torque of 3 Nm.
–  Remove the bit.
