  Note
The procedures for removal and assembly described below correspond to the left tailgate hinge. The work required for the tailgate hinge on the right side is similar.
–  Remove tailgate → Chapter.
–  Removing interior trim of upper cross member: → Bodywork, interior installation work; Rep. Gr.70
   
–  Unscrew bolt -3-.
  Note
On 2 door vehicles with opening rear side windows, these windows must be closed completely.
–  Remove upper panelling on C-pillar -4- with lever -T20043- until the headliner -2- can be removed.
–  Detach headliner -2- so that nut -1- is accessible.
–  Unscrew bolts -1- and remove hinge for tailgate.
