Removing head restraint guides
  Note
For greater clarity, the head restraint guides are shown removed.
–  Attach seat repair stand -VAS 6136- to engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095-.
–  Remove front seat → Chapter.
–  Fasten seat on seat repair stand -VAS 6136-.
–  Remove front belt buckle → Chapter.
–  Remove trim on tunnel side → Chapter.
–  Remove lumbar adjustment lever if there is one → Chapter.
Front passenger seat without height adjustment
–  Remove backrest adjuster wheel → Chapter.
–  Remove trim on sill side → Chapter.
Front passenger seat with through-loading aperture
–  Remove trim on sill side → Chapter.
Front seats with manual height adjustment
–  Remove backrest adjuster wheel → Chapter.
–  Remove trim on sill side → Chapter.
Driver seat, electrically adjustable
–  Remove trim on sill side → Chapter.
–  Disconnect the two backrest drive wiring harnesses from seat frame on lower side. Detach wiring harnesses from seat frame.
All vehicles
–  Remove backrest → Chapter.
–  Mount backrest on seat repair stand -VAS 6136-.
–  Remove backrest folding table if there is one → Chapter.
–  Remove front seat backrest cover and padding → Chapter.
   
–  Reach into backrest frame and release catch -arrow A- of head restraint guide with button -1-.
–  Pull head restraint guide together with button out of backrest.
–  Reach into backrest frame and press catch -arrow B- of head restraint guide -2-.
–  Pull head restraint guide out of backrest.
