Upholstery and padding for front seat back: removal and assembly   Note Removal and installation on the left side of the vehicle are is described. The removal and installation of the right side of the vehicle is carried out respectively. t  Removing: → Anchor t  Installing: → Anchor

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Removing   Note t  Removal and installation is described for the manually adjustable seat. Removal and installation for the electrically adjustable seat is similar. t  When removal and installation the seats use suitable gloves in order to avoid soiling the upholstery. t  The removal and installation procedures may need to be modified slightly depending on the equipment variants.   WARNING When working on seats with side airbags, observe safety precautions → Chapter –  Remove the front seat → Chapter. –  Remove the front seat back → Chapter.

–  Press the key -2-. –  Remove headrest -1-.

–  Remove the lumbar region adjustment knob using the pliers -T20065-. –  Lift the cover until the mounts -arrows- for the wires -1- can be seen.

–  Using the hook -3438-, hang the end pieces of the tensioning wires -1- out of the openings -arrows-.

–  Pull the cover upwards until you can see the rod -1-. –  Hang out the rod using the pressure tool -T20069-. –  Carefully pull on the cover and remove the rod from the plastic clips of the backrest padding.   Note The position and number of plastic clips may differ depending on the version of the seat.

–  Pull the covering upward until the rod -1- are visible at the front side of the backrest. –  Separate the reference rod from the rod of the backrest -1-.   Note If necessary, use the hook -3438- to separate the rod. –  If necessary, remove the head restraint guides → Chapter, → Chapter. –  Remove the complete seat backrest cover by pulling upwards. Installing Installation is carried out in reverse order. The following should be taken into account:   Note To ease installation, we recommend heating the upholstery to approximately 30 ºC before fitting.
