Removing and installing flange shaft (right-side) Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782-, see equivalent → Anchor Detaching l  Gearbox must be fitted –  Remove front right wheel.

–  Release the bolts or quick release fasteners -1... 3- and remove the noise insulation at the front and back.

–  If fitted, remove bolt -1- on soundproofing cover above right drive shaft. –  Disengage retainer -2- and remove soundproofing cover. –  Remove heat shield for right-side drive shaft. –  Remove the right half shaft → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr.40.

–  Unbolt bearing bracket for flange shaft -arrows-. –  Place used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- below gearbox. –  Pull out flange shaft (right side) together with bearing bracket.

Installing –  Clean flange shaft. –  Replace the seal of the flange shaft → Chapter. –  Renew O-ring -arrow A- in flange shaft bearing bracket. –  Push spring -C- with cap facing outwards into drilling at end of flange shaft -arrow-. –  Insert flange shaft -B- into gearbox.   Note Make sure that spring -C- remains in flange shaft when inserting, otherwise it might drop into gearbox.

–  Bolt on bearing bracket for flange shaft -arrows-. –  Mount right-hand articulated shaft: → Running gear, shafts, steering; Rep. gr.40. –  Check gear oil level in front final drive → Chapter. Specified torques
