Note:

When stripping and assembling the engine, secure it to support clamp VW 313 optionally with engine bracket 3269 or VW 540 and supplementary set 540/1 B.

Work sequence

• ‒ Remove gearbox.

Vehicles with automatic gearbox

• ‒ Secure torque converter against "falling out" after separating engine from gearbox.

Continuation for all vehicles

• ‒ Bolt engine bracket VW 3269 or VW 540 with supplementary set 540/1 B to cylinder block.
• ‒ → Attach lifting device 3033 as follows and lift engine from engine/gearbox jack V.A.G 1383 using workshop crane V.A.G 1202.

• Vibration damper end:
  Position 3
• Flywheel end:
  Position 11

• ‒ Fit engine in support clamp VW 313 using workshop crane V.A.G 1202 A.
