Notes:

  • ◆ If you install an exchange cylinder head, all contact surfaces between bearing elements, roller rocker fingers and cam running surfaces of camshaft must be oiled before installing cylinder head cover.
  • ◆ The plastic protectors fitted to protect the open valves must only be removed immediately before fitting the cylinder head.
  • ◆ When replacing the cylinder head the complete coolant must be renewed.

Work sequence

  • ‒ Remove old sealant from 3 mm holes in the cylinder head gasket -arrows-.
  • ‒ Fill 3 mm holes in the cylinder head gasket with sealant AMV 188 001 02 and coat sealing surfaces on cover and sealing flange with sealant.

Note:

With the cylinder head installed the holes are only half visible.

Installing

  • ‒ Do not lubricate seal.
  • ‒ Fit sealing ring in the cover part -1- with fitting sleeve 3378 and pull in until it is flush with 3253/6 from assembly device 3253.
