Checking pressures > < Check the pressure in the refrigerant circuit (using the air conditioning service station)
Test prerequisites
Test prerequisites
l  Radiator and condenser must be clean (clean them if necessary).
l  The thermal protection insulation of the expansion valve is in order and correctly mounted. See the repair manual of the vehicle in question → Rep. gr.87.
l  The Poly-V belt is in good condition and properly tensed. The compressor and alternator belts are in good condition and properly tensed. See the repair manual of the vehicle in question → Rep. gr.87.
l  All air ducts, covers and seals are OK and properly installed.
l  Fault-finding on the electrical systems and vacuum system has found no faults. See the repair manual of the vehicle in question → Rep. gr.87.
l  The air-conditioner self-diagnosis does not detect any fault with the vehicle information, measurement and diagnosis system -VAS 5051A- through the „Guided fault location“, in the measurement value block no deactivation condition is observed for the air-conditioner compressor (only for vehicles with „Air-conditioning“ self-diagnosis).
l  Air flow through dust and pollen filter not impeded by dirt See the repair manual of the vehicle in question → Rep. gr.87.
l  The heater and the air conditioner do not obtain additional air at full speed from the fresh air blower. The evaporator and heating do not draw any uncooled air at highest fresh air blower speed. See the repair manual of the vehicle in question → Rep. gr.87.
l  The air duct flaps of the heater and the air conditioner reach their end position. See the repair manual of the vehicle in question → Rep. gr.87.
l  The fresh air intake ducts below the bonnet and in the passenger compartment, as well as the corresponding drain valves, are in good condition. See the repair manual of the vehicle in question → Rep. gr.87.
l  The engine must be warm.
l  Vehicle not exposed to direct sunlight.
l  Ambient temperature above 15°C
l  All dash panel air vents are open.
l  With engine running and air conditioning set for maximum cooling output:
→ Rep. gr.87
Set maximum cooling output.
Setting on the air-conditioner control unit and display, Climatronic -E87-:
–  Set the operating mode „Auto“ (air-conditioner compressor activated).
–  Select the temperature setting „LO“ for the driver and front passenger side.
Setting on the heater controls:
–  A/C button and Rec (air recirculation) button depressed.
–  The temperature selector rotating control is at the end position „cold“.
–  The fresh air blower rotating control is set to position „4“.
l  The refrigerant fan/s -V7- are running (at least speed 1).*
  Note
In some versions, the fan only starts running after the pressure in the refrigerant circuit has surpassed a preset value.
l  The fresh air blower -V2- is running at maximum speed.
l  The air recirculation/fresh air flap set to position „Air recirculation“/ closes the air retention flap and opens the air recirculation flap (within 1 minute after starting the vehicle).*
l  The refrigerant shut-off valve is closed.*
l  The valves of the valve unit and pump are closed (and the refrigerant recirculation pump is not running).*
