Components of the air conditioner - Automatic air conditioning (Climatronic) in the engine compartment
t  Venting device for the air conditioner -SAT 4006D-
t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-
t  Spanner -T10364-
t  Kit (case) -T 20017A-
t  Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 505X-

  WARNING
Before working on the electrical system, disconnect the battery earth strap.
  WARNING
Danger of freezing injuries.
If refrigerant circuit has not been evacuated, refrigerant will escape.
Extract refrigerant before opening refrigerant circuit. If the refrigerant circuit is not opened within 10 minutes after it has been evacuated, pressure may develop in coolant circuit due to re-evaporation. Extract refrigerant again.
  Note
t  Before disconnecting the battery, check the radio's anti-theft code.
t  If the battery is re-connected, the vehicle equipment must be checked (radio, clock, electrical comfort system etc.), following the instructions in the Repair Manual and/or Owner's Manual.
t  All of the components marked with -*- and the refrigerant pipes and tubes may only be repaired or replaced in authorised technical service workshops as the refrigerant must be drained beforehand, with a maintenance station.
t  The refrigerant must have been previously extracted, e.g. using the venting device for the air conditioner -SAT 4006D- or a following model.
t  Safety measures for working on the refrigerant circuit after extracting the refrigerant.
t  You must follow the instructions for work on the refrigerant circuit → Chapter.
t  Close all of the refrigerant circuit components that are open using the proper covers kit (bag) -T20017A- to prevent moisture from entering.
t  The colour coding of O-rings for R134a refrigerant circuits has been discontinued. Black and coloured O-rings are used.
t  The desiccant cartridge does not have to be replaced every time the refrigerant circuit is opened „Replace components“.
t  Do not start the engine if the refrigerant pipes are not connected to the compressor and the compressor is sealed with stoppers.

1 - High-pressure sender -G65-
q   Removing and installing: → Chapter.
q   Checking signal → Chapter
2 - Air inlet hole in the air conditioning unit
q   Under the plenum chamber cover
3 - Expansion valve
q   Expansion valve: Assembly overview → Chapter
q   Removing and installing: → Chapter.
q   Removing and fitting the refrigerant pipes → Chapter
4 - Valve for the condensation water outlet*
q   Behind the heat-proof mat of the transverse panel (mounting plate)
q   Only fit this when the air conditioning unit is not installed.
q   Check Figure → Chapter
5 - Support for the refrigerant pipes
q   Engage the pipe clamp for the coolant line correctly in the bracket → Chapter.
6 - Overpressure valve*
q   O-rings: 8.6 mm; 1.8 mm
q   Tightening torque: 10 Nm
q   Testing → Chapter
7 - Regulating valve of the air conditioning compressor -N280-*
q   Forms part of the compressor. Do not replace separately.
q   Check the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 505X-.
q   Checking activation signal for air conditioning system compressor regulating valve -N280- → Chapter.
q   Control valve with coil resistance at 20°C: 10.6 ± 0.4 Ω
  Note
The regulating valve receives a PWM (500 Hz) signal from the air conditioning control unit -J301- according to the refrigeration power requirement and regulates the compressor through the suction pressure/position of the inclined plate.
8 - Tank for liquid with drying element*
q   Forms part of the condenser
q   Replace the drying element every time you open the refrigerant circuit.
q   Removing and fitting the drying element → Chapter
9 - Condenser*
q   Removing and fitting the condenser → Chapter
q   Removing and fitting the refrigerant pipes → Chapter
10 - Oil drain plug*
q   With seal
q   Tightening torque: 15 Nm
q   For draining the refrigerant, remove the compressor, unscrew the oil drain plug and for the purpose of speeding up the draining process, turn the compressor via the pulley.
11 - Compressor*
q   Manufacturer: Denso, denomination: 6 SEU 12C
q   Compressor: removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Removing and fitting the refrigerant pipes → Chapter
q   Filling rules → Chapter
q   Notes on installing air conditioner compressor → Chapter
q   Renewing compressor pulley → Chapter
q   Bracket for air conditioner compressor → Chapter
  Note
t  The flow from the compressor is regulated on the suction side by a regulating valve with external control according to the refrigeration power requirement.
t  If the air conditioning is disconnected due to a loss of refrigerant, the compressor lubrication is still guaranteed.
t  Do not start the engine if the refrigerant pipes are not connected to the compressor and the compressor is sealed with stoppers (risk of overheating).
12 -  Support for the refrigerant pipes
q   Correctly fit the refrigerant pipes → Chapter
13 -  Extracting and filling valve, in the low-pressure circuit*
q   only for extracting or filling and measuring
q   Always screw the cap on with the o-ring seal.
q   Low-pressure circuit: Remove the extraction and filling valve → Chapter
14 -  Extracting and filling valve, in the high-pressure circuit*
q   only for extracting or filling and measuring
q   Always screw the cap on with the o-ring seal.
q   High-pressure circuit: Remove the extraction and filling valve → Chapter
15 - Fan control unit -J293-
q   It is activated by the Climatronic control unit -J255- → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
