  Note
t  The ancillary bracket for air conditioner compressor can be removed and installed without the refrigerant circuit being opened.
t  Take the vehicle to a suitable workshop with specially trained mechanics if the air conditioner compressor must be removed.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-

1 - Dowel sleeve
2 - Ancillary bracket for alternator, air conditioner compressor and power steering vane pump
q   Part No. 045 903 143 C
q   To remove:
–  Remove alternator → Rep. Gr.27.
–  Remove power steering vane pump → Rep. Gr.48.
–  Remove air conditioner compressor -10- from ancillary bracket.
q   Installing:
–  Renew securing bolts.
–  Observe securing bolts tightening sequence. First tighten socket head flange bolt -6-, then socket head flange bolt -5-, then socket head flange bolts -8-, -7-, -4- and -3-.

q   Remove air conditioner compressor → Chapter.
q   Remove from ancillary bracket
–  Remove front bumper → Rep. Gr.63.
–  Separate lock carrier and pull it forwards.
–  Remove headlight housing → Rep. Gr.94.
–  Remove poly V-belt -11-.
–  Remove alternator → Rep. Gr.27.

When installing poly V-belt, ensure that it is correctly seated on poly V-belt pulley.
