Flexible axle (for air distribution): removing and fitting > < Main board for the heating control: removing and fitting
Removing and installing Bowden cable for temperature adjustment
Removing and installing Bowden cable for temperature adjustment
Removal:
   
–  Move the rotary control for setting the temperature -A- to the „cold stop“ position.
–  Remove the main board for the heating control elements → Chapter.
  Note
The flexible shaft must not be removed.

–  Release fastener -D- of Bowden cable sheath -E- and take Bowden cable sheath out of mounting of base plate for heater controls.
–  Release ball at Bowden cable -F- from actuating lever -G-.
–  Remove the bottom section of the steering wheel housing according to the version of the model → Bodywork, interior fitting work; Rep. gr.68.

–  Remove the driver side footwell trim → Bodywork, interior fitting work; Rep. gr.68.
–  Remove the vent from the foot well area on the left side → Chapter.
  Note
The dash panel insert is not illustrated in the figure to provide a better overview of the parts to be removed.

–  Remove the Data bus diagnostic interface -J533--1- → Electrical system; Rep. gr.97
  E80-10031
–  Remove bracket -A- for fixing the dash panel insert → Bodywork, interior fitting work; Rep. gr.70
–  Unfasten support bracket -A- of Bowden cable sheath -E- and take Bowden cable sheath out of heater guide -C-.
–  Release ball at Bowden cable -B- from lever of temperature flap.
Installation
Attach in reverse order; note the following:
–  Only fit Bowden cables which have not been kinked and which move freely in sheath.
–  Do not kink Bowden cable.
–  Use the tightening torque → Bodywork, interior fitting work; Rep. gr.68.
