Air flow in the air distribution housing
  Note
To show the air flow in the air distribution housing the air is represented by the lines “A”-“A” and “B”-“B”.
   
1 - Air distributor housing
2 - Left temperature trap
q   Shown in “cool”position
3 - Air flow to the centre console rear vent air duct and to the centre vents of the dashboard
4 - Air flow to the centre console rear vent air duct and to the centre vents of the dashboard
5 - Right temperature flap
q   Shown in centre position
6 - Left foot well temperature trap
q   Shown in “closed ”position
q   The centre vents (left, right and middle) and the vents in the foot well area are operated by the cam disks on the servomotor or the shaft.
7 - Left foot well air duct
8 - Air distribution housing crossed by the line “A”-“A”
9 - Additional heating element -Z35- with Additional air heating control unit -J604-
q   Not fitted in all vehicles, see → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
q   Only for vehicles fitted with a diesel engine, depending on the vehicle equipment there is an additional electric heating
10 - Heating system heat exchanger

q   This flap is operated by a transmission lever from the centre flap

q   Now, this duct is closed by a plug
