  Note

t  Refrigerant in refrigerant circuit is never to be topped up (drain, evacuate and refill circuit).
t  The compressor is always driven when engine is running; there is no magnetic clutch. Engine is therefore not to be started unless refrigerant circuit has been properly assembled. If, for example, refrigerant pipes have not been connected to compressor, heat generation inside compressor with engine running may lead to destruction of compressor. The interior heating occurs because the compressor will work with about 0% flow against a fixed resistance (circuit closed).
t  To stop the compressor being destroyed when the refrigerant circuit is empty, it is designed such that delivery is reduced to roughly 0% and lubrication is maintained by way of an internal oil circuit with the oil left in the compressor.
t  Replacement compressors contain the full quantity of refrigerant oil required for the refrigerant circuit → Air conditioning - with refrigerant R134a SEAT.
t  For different types of compressors, different types of refrigerant oil must be used → Air conditioning - with refrigerant R134a SEAT.
t  Lightly oil the O-rings with oil from the refrigerant circuit just before fitting → Chapter.
t  The stated diameters for the O-ring seals and the tightening torque also apply to refrigerant pipe/hose unions between the individual components.
t  Only fit O-ring seals that are approved for use with the refrigerant R134a → Air conditioning - with refrigerant R134a SEAT → Spare parts catalogue.
