Tightening torques > < Securing engine to assembly stand

Install in reverse order but note following:
–  Check whether the dowel sleeves for centring engine assembly are in the cylinder block, install if necessary.
   
–  Fit intermediate plate onto sealing flange and slide onto dowel sleeves -arrows-.
–  Check centring of clutch drive plate, if necessary.
–  Check clutch release bearing for wear, renew if necessary.
–  Lightly grease clutch release bearing, release bearing guide sleeve and input shaft splines with -G 000 100-.
–  When installing the engine assembly, ensure there is sufficient clearance with relation to drive shafts.

–  On fitting the engine supports, check that the lug of the right-hand rear console and the front console recess fit into the rubber/metal bush guides -arrow-.
–  Align engine by rocking in such a way that engine supports carry no tension.
–  Fit the front exhaust pipe of the exhaust manifold. According to chassis ► VR 013843: → Chapter According to chassis VR 013844 ►: → Chapter
–  Installing the drive shafts: → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. Gr.40
Vehicles with air conditioning
–  Installing air conditioner compressor: → Heating, Air conditioning; Rep. Gr.87
Observe additional information and installation work → Chapter.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Installing the power assisted steering pump: → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. Gr.48
–  Install ribbed belt → Chapter.
–  Install the gearbox selector mechanism: → 5-speed manual gearbox 020; Rep. Gr.34
–  Installing clutch cable: → 5-speed manual gearbox 020; Rep. Gr.30
–  Fit all electric wires of the gearbox, alternator, compressor and starter: → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.97
–  Install lock carrier with accessory parts: → Bodywork Repairs, installation work, exterior; Rep. Gr.50
Continue installing in reverse order.
–  Fill with coolant → Chapter.
–  Check headlight adjustment and adjust if necessary: → Booklet
–  Carry out a test drive and interrogate fault memory: → Self-diagnosis; Rep. Gr.01
