Checking conditions
l  Engine at service temperature.
Test sequence
  Caution
Steam can be released when removing the cap from the expansion tank. The cap should be covered with a cloth and opened carefully.
   
–  The test is done with the -V.A.G 1274- kit and the -V.A.G 1274/8- adaptor
–  Remove the expansion tank cap, and connect the -V.A.G 1274- tester in its place using the -V.A.G 1274/8- adaptor, as shown in the photograph.
–  Produce a pressure of 1 bar with the pump.
–  If the pressure drops for a moderate time, find the non-hermetic point in the installation.
Checking the pressure relief valve in the locking cap

–  Fit tester -SAT 1274- with adaptor -V.A.G 1274/9- in locking cap.
–  Operate hand pump. The pressure relief valve should open at 1.4 … 1.6 bar.
–  At this moment, the pressure valve of the cap should open. If not: replace the cap.
