Installation
  Note!
t  If the camshaft oil seal is changed, lightly oil the sealing lip and the edge of the oil seal before installation. Fit the new oil seal until it can go no further in the cylinder head.
t  On fitting camshaft, cams for cylinder 1 must point upwards.

–  Position the bearing caps and determine the fitting position.
–  Tighten bearing caps 2 and 4 alternately and diagonally, to a torque of 20 Nm.
–  Install bearing caps 5, 1 and 3 and also tighten to a torque of 20 Nm.
–  Fit the camshaft toothed wheel.
  V15-0098
–  Check that the TDC mark on the flywheel coincides with the clutch housing reference mark.
  E13-0096
–  Check that the camshaft is in the TDC position. To do this, check that the -T20038- adjusting ruler is positioned correctly and that the -U-20003- tool is blocking the toothed wheel of the injection pump.
–  Once the distribution marks are facing, fit the toothed belt (if the toothed belt has been re-used, observe the turn direction).
–  Remove the -U-20003- tool from the injection pump sprocket.
–  Install the idler roller.
  E13-0121
–  With the help of the -U-30009- tool, turn the tensioning roller to the right until the groove and the lug coincide -arrows-.
–  Tighten the nut that fixes the tensioning roller.
–  Tighten the securing bolt of the camshaft toothed wheel and separate the -T20038- adjusting ruler.
–  Turn the crankshaft two turns to check the distribution marks.
–  Fit the cylinder head cover.
–  Fit the toothed belt guard.
–  Check the start of supply of the injection pump: → Rep. Gr.23
  Note!
After fitting the camshaft, do not start the engine for approx. 30 minutes. Hydraulic compensation elements must be allowed to settle (or else the valves could touch the piston).
