Test the compression → Chapter
  Note!
t  When installing a replacement cylinderhead with the camshaft installed, oil the contact surfaces between the plungers and the cam slide tracks before installing the cylinderhead cover.
t  Oil the support and slide surfaces before installing.
t  Do not remove the plastic bases included for the protection of the open valves until just before fitting the cylinderhead.
t  Change all the coolant after replacing the cylinderhead.
   
1 - Upper toothed belt shield
2 - Toothed belt
q   Before removing, mark the direction of rotation
q   Check for wear
q   Do not fold
q   Remove and install, tighten → Chapter
3 - 10 Nm
4 - 25 Nm
5 - 100 Nm
6 - Camshaft pinion
7 - Hub
q   With sender rotor
q   For loosening and tightening use countersupport -T10051-
q   For removing, use extractor -T10052-
q   Remove and install → Fig., Camshaft: removing and installing
8 - Inner toothed belt shield
9 - Sealing plug
q   Replace if worn
10 - Hall sender -G40-
q   For the camshaft position
q   For removing, remove the sealing plug → Item of the inner toothed belt shield
q   Test: → Chapter
11 - Cylinderhead bolt
q   Replace
q   Follow the installation order when loosening and tightening → Chapter, Cylinderhead: removing and installing
q   Before installation, fit the washers on the cylinderhead → Item, Valve control: repairing
12 - Bolt, 10 Nm
q   For the engine cover
13 - Cylinderhead cover
q   With oil filler hole
q   If the cylinderhead cover is worn, the oil filler hole must also be replaced
q   Before fitting it, carefully clean the sealing surface of the cylinderhead with a clean cloth
14 - To turbocompressor
15 - 10 Nm
q   First tighten all the bolts by hand
q   Next, first tighten the two bolts of the upper part and then the other bolts in a crossing pattern working inside out to the correct tightening torque
16 - Pressure regulator valve
q   To the engine block vent
17 - Oil filler hole
q   Replace
18 - Plug
q   Replace the gasket if worn
19 - Ring gasket
q   Replace if worn
20 - Support
q   With fuel lines
21 - Cylinderhead cover gasket
q   Replace if worn
22 - 20 Nm
23 - Ring
24 - Pump injector
q   Remove and install → Chapter
25 - Middle connector
q   For pump injector
26 - From the brake servo
27 - Tandem pump
q   For the fuel supply and the vacuum
q   Remove and install → Chapter
q   Test → Chapter
28 - Supply hose
q   From the fuel filter → Chapter
q   White or white mark
q   Check for firm seating
q   Immobilise with elastic strip clamps
29 - Return hose
q   Towards the fuel filter → Chapter
q   Blue or blue mark
q   Check for firm seating
q   Immobilise with elastic strip clamps
30 - Gasket
q   Replace
31 - Support
32 - Hexagonal conical nut
33 - Cylinderhead
q   Remove and install → Chapter
q   After replacing it, change all the coolant
34 - Cylinderhead gasket
q   Replace
q   Check the identification → Fig.
q   After replacing it, change all the coolant
35 - Glowplug
q   15 Nm
q   Test → Chapter
36 - Tensioning roller
37 - 20 Nm + 45° (1/8 turn)

   
Check the cylinderhead for deformations
Maximum admissible deformation: 0.1 mm
  Note!
Diesel cylinderheads cannot be re-cut.

Identification of the cylinderhead gasket
t  Part number = arrow -1-
t  Processing code = arrow -2- (ignore!)
t  Holes = arrow -3-
  Note!
Depending on the dimension of piston projection, cylinderhead gaskets of different thicknesses are fitted. When replacing the gasket, replace it with one with the same identification.
